AI can generate in seconds what once took hours, but someone still has to read it, interpret it, evaluate it, question it, and decide what to do with it. At the same time, the sheer volume of AI-generated information can leave us overwhelmed. This session explores two sides of AI-enabled cognitive strain: too much information to process and a growing temptation to avoid the effort of processing it at all.
Participants examine how AI may be changing not only how much information we receive, but how willing we are to engage in the deeper thinking required to turn information into understanding.
1. Recognize how AI can contribute to cognitive overload
2. Examine when AI is reducing unnecessary work versus replacing productive thinking.
3. Apply practical strategies for managing AI-generated information while remaining actively engaged in thinking, reviewing, and decision-making.
